Terms of Service

Effective October 22, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Thrift Bounty’s website, mobile application, and related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Marketplace service

Thrift Bounty is a marketplace where people post items they want and other people submit possible finds. Features may change or be unavailable. Thrift Bounty processes a real purchase only when the signed-in app expressly presents a live, secure checkout and confirms payment. The initial paid pilot is limited to eligible US buyers, US delivery addresses, US sellers, US dollars, and physical secondhand goods. Do not exchange payment details or send money outside Thrift Bounty in response to an in-app offer.

Prohibited items

You may not request, submit, offer, sell, or purchase counterfeit or stolen goods; weapons; illegal, recalled, or unsafe products; hazardous materials; controlled substances, medicines, alcohol, tobacco, or nicotine products; sexually exploitative material; used cosmetics; hygiene-sensitive used intimate goods where resale is unsafe or unlawful; or anything prohibited by Stripe or applicable law.

We may remove an item, block checkout, cancel a transaction, request evidence, or restrict an account when an item may violate these rules. Listing or checkout availability does not mean that Thrift Bounty has approved the item as legal, safe, or authentic.

Item authentication

Sellers must provide accurate current photos and disclose the item’s condition, size, known flaws, and relevant identifying details. High-risk designer, luxury, or archival items may require additional private evidence and manual review before checkout. A failed, inconclusive, or incomplete review blocks checkout.

Authentication review is a risk-control process, not a certificate, appraisal, or guarantee of authenticity. Sellers remain responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of their items. Buyers should review the locked photos and item details before paying and promptly report suspected counterfeit goods through the delivery-issue process.

Your account

You must provide accurate information, protect access to your account, and promptly notify us of unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may not impersonate another person, evade a suspension, or use the service unlawfully.

Your content and permissions

You keep ownership of content you submit. You represent that you own it, have permission to use it, or otherwise have a lawful right to submit it. This includes reference photos, item photos, descriptions, profile information, messages, and links.

You give Thrift Bounty a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, resize, format, display, and distribute your content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and promote Thrift Bounty. This license ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except where continued retention is reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety, dispute resolution, backups, or content you shared with others.

Do not submit content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights; is fraudulent or misleading; depicts prohibited or counterfeit goods; or is unlawful, threatening, hateful, sexually exploitative, or otherwise unsafe. Giving credit, cropping an image, or calling it a reference does not by itself create permission to use it.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

Thrift Bounty has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You may not harass, threaten, bully, exploit, impersonate, defraud, spam, or target another person, and you may not post hateful, sexually exploitative, violent, fraudulent, illegal, or otherwise unsafe content. Use the in-app Report or Block controls when you encounter a violation. Reports and blocks notify our moderation team; blocked accounts and their content are removed from your experience immediately. We may remove content and suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Marketplace conduct

Describe requests and finds honestly. Do not manipulate prices, fabricate availability, spam users, scrape the service, interfere with security, or use another person’s personal information improperly. A find is not guaranteed to be authentic, available, safe, or suitable; users must review information carefully before acting.

Moderation and intellectual property

We may review, restrict, preserve, or remove content and may suspend or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law, or operate the service. We maintain a repeat-infringer policy and may terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe intellectual-property rights in appropriate circumstances. Copyright complaints are handled under our Copyright Policy.

Service availability and disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Thrift Bounty disclaims implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, successful matches, or the conduct of any user. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes and termination

We may update the service or these Terms. We will post an updated effective date and provide additional notice when legally required. You may stop using the service and request account deletion. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.
